No blogging. PhD-ing instead.

If you have anything to tell me about Gide and Greek tragedy, do let me know.

Oh God, the PhD - do you have a routine of writing every day? I must just push mine out now - by any means necessary :-(

Unfortunately not - that's the problem! But I do have a stack of material for this chapter on Gide and Greek tragedy, so at least half of it is fine, then I will run out of steam and despair of how to write the other 10,000 words! I'd like to have a draft of the whole thing done by Christmas so that I have the Spring to rewrite before submitting it in April.

Hello,
I have read most of your blog and I am very curious as to your reason(s) for going to live in Marrakech for a year: as far as I can tell (or as far as you have told the world in your blog), you aren't there because: your Ph.D./love life revolves around it; you have a special affinity with Marrakech for some recondite reason; you intend to study something Morocco-related after Gide (he wrote something about Morocco didn't he, or just Africa, or am I mixing him up with someone else - degree in French from Durham TOO long ago!!)..... I suppose you don't have to have a reason, but I'm curious.....

Maryam: *huge hug*

Joan: We are here for the year simply because we love Morocco and realised that this is the perfect year for clearing off out of the British Isles and an opportunity that is not likely to come around again until my husband finishes *his* PhD. Our reasons are no more profound or practical than that!
